Hainan Agricultural Exchange Association, supervised by Department of Agriculture of Hainan Province and approved by Hainan Civil Affairs Bureau, is a provincial trade association connecting the agricultural, industrial, commercial, financial, forestry, husbandry and fishery enterprises and institutions of the whole province and also the first provincial agricultural association in China.
    Since its establishment in April 1996, the Association has attracted 500 organizational members and 600 individual members, established close ties with the agriculture-related governmental departments, agricultural associations and enterprises in the agriculturally-developed countries and regions such as Japan, South Korea, America, France, Germany, Israel, Denmark, the Netherlands, Australia, Malaysia, Taiwan and Hong Kong, sent 30 delegations respectively to Taiwan, European Union, Australia, Singapore, Japan, member countries of ASEAN and Israel etc. and successfully held more than 70 agriculture-related activities including conference, training, investigation, planning, demonstration, consultation, on-the-spot investigation, discussion, exchange and trade. All these have provided agricultural enterprises with all-round services in the form of information, funds, technology, talents, agricultural material promotion and marketing management, etc, gained the trust of its members, built a growing reputation and have been recognized by the ministerial and provincial authorities.
    Lu Liangshu, director of China Agriculture Advisory Committee and State Food and Nutrition Consultant Committee, vice-director of the Expert Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture of China, former president of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and former vice-president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Hong Fuzeng, former vice-minister of the Ministry of Agriculture of China, vice chairman of the CPPCC Economic Committee, Liu Yonghao, member of the CPPCC Standing Committee, vice-chairman of China Minsheng Bank and Chairman of New Hope Group (NHG) and Yao Wenxu, former chairman of Hainan People's Political Consultative Conference serve as the honorary chairman of the Association. He Kang, vice-minister of Ministry of Agriculture of China, is the director of the Advisory Committee of the Association, with Lin Yuquan, former director-general of Department of Agriculture of Hainan Province and Zhang Lifu, vice-chairman of Hainan People's Political Consultative Conference and party secretary of Hainan State Farm Bureau serving as the members of the Advisory Committee. Fu Qihao, former vice-chairman of Hainan People's Political Consultative Conference, is the director of the Expert Committee of the Association, with Doctor Cheng Guoqiang, vice-director of the General Administrative Office of Development Research Center of the State Council, and Wang Wenzhuang, vice-president of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, serving as its members.

    Function: coordinating, consulting, providing services, investigating and researching, enhancing the concerted effort of the whole society in building the large-scale agriculture in Hainan.

    The Association has successively won the following awards: Scientific and Technologic Exchange Award, the honorable title of Advanced Unit, the Best Organization Award, Excellent Association Award, three successive championships of the Star of Association in China, Jinqiao Engineering Award and the Entry Prize of “China’s Market Development” conferred by the World Bank. Zhou Dawei, the secretary general of the Association and the author of the book--Making Big Fortune on Agriculture, was listed in Who’s Who and awarded the title of Excellent Party Member of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang and the Excellent Worker of the Association.
